World Nature Conservation Day - Our Lady of The Snows School, Kullu in collaboration with H.P. Forest Department (Kullu)

DATE: 30TH JULY,2026 LOCATION: BARAHAR, UPPER MOHAL REGION (31°54'41.38"N, 77° 6'30.53"E) 1490 METER

Activities Conducted: During the morning assembly, the principal Fr. Michael Collins presented an awareness input on world nature conservation. The representatives from the Eco Club highlighted the need to protect the natural resources, combat climate changes and preserve biodiversity through an awareness skit and songs. The assembly set an energetic and eco-conscious tone for the day's field activities.

Field Trip & Tree Plantation (Barahar Forest Region, Upper Mohal, Kullu) Upon reaching the Barahar Forest region in Kullu district, our eco Team was welcomed by the local forest department staff. Our students, along with the forest department staff, planted saplings at the designated spots around the hill. Our students also made a personal ownership pledge for a high survival rate of the saplings they planted.

Forest rangers shared valuable insights with students regarding the local flora and fauna of the Kullu district, the role of forests as carbon sinks, and the challenges of forest conservation.

The joint initiative by the Forest Department and O.L.S. School proved to be a resounding success. It successfully bridged classroom learning with practical environmental stewardship.
