National Youth Sunday Celebration 2026

Theme: “Take Courage! I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33

National Youth Sunday was joyfully celebrated on Sunday, 9 August 2026, at Christ the King Cathedral during the Sunday Eucharistic Celebration. The celebration focused on the theme, “Take Courage! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33), reminding the youth to remain courageous in faith and to trust in the victory of Christ.

The Eucharistic celebration began with a meaningful procession from the church gate to the altar during the entrance hymn. The youth carried flowers in their hands and placed them into a black paper heart prepared near the altar. This symbolized bringing love, beauty, and new life into an empty heart, allowing it to bloom through Christ’s love.

Another significant symbol was a paper tree representing Jesus, to which paper cut-outs of hands carrying different fears and burdens were attached. This activity symbolized how Jesus takes upon Himself our fears, struggles, and burdens. It also reflected His sacrificing love, His suffering and death on the Cross, and ultimately the victory achieved through the Cross.

At the conclusion of the Eucharistic Celebration, a cake-cutting ceremony was organized to mark the occasion. The Mahila Sangh took the initiative to sing a beautiful Sadri wishing song for all the youth of the parish, making the celebration even more joyful and memorable.

Following the Mass, games were organized for the youth by Fr. Stephen Masih. He encouraged all the youth to actively participate and enjoy the activities. The games carried an important message of unity, cooperation, and togetherness. Through the activities, the youth were encouraged to understand that as a group, they must support one another, remain united, and move forward together as one.

The celebration concluded with prize distribution for the winners, while consolation chocolates were given to all the participants in appreciation of their enthusiastic participation.

The National Youth Sunday celebration was a beautiful combination of faith, symbolism, fellowship, joy, and unity. It reminded the youth that whatever challenges and fears they may face, Christ has already overcome the world and calls them to move forward with courage and faith.
