Manav Vikas Samiti (MVS) continued its mission in the Diocese - Social Apostolate
During the months of May to July 2026, Manav Vikas Samiti (MVS) continued its mission of serving the poor and marginalized through community development, livelihood promotion, and skill development initiatives across the Diocese.
1. Completion of Flood Relief Housing Project
A significant milestone was achieved with the successful completion of the Flood Relief Housing Renovation Project in various parts of the Diocese. The project restored damaged houses and provided safe and dignified living conditions for families affected by the floods. This humanitarian initiative was made possible through the generous collaboration of the Diocese of Ajmer and the Simla-Chandigarh Diocese Society. The renovated homes have brought renewed hope and security to many vulnerable families.
2. New Tailoring Batch at Nayagaon Training Centre
A new batch of vocational training commenced at the Nayagaon Tailoring Training Centre, with 21 women enrolling in the programme. The trainees will receive practical instruction in embroidery, bag stitching, garment making, and various other stitching techniques, enabling them to develop sustainable livelihood skills and move towards economic self-reliance.
3. Skill Development Programme – Kauli Centre
The Skill Development Centre at Kauli successfully completed another batch of the General Duty Assistant (GDA) training programme. A total of 110 students successfully completed the course. The first batch of 35 students has also completed their assessments successfully and is now ready for employment. They will soon be placed at MAX Hospital, Mohali, and Fortis Hospital, Mohali, marking an important step towards meaningful employment in the healthcare sector.
4. Formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Kauli
As part of its community empowerment initiatives, Manav Vikas Samiti facilitated the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Kauli village. The initiative aims to encourage savings, financial discipline, and mutual support among women while promoting entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods. Through regular meetings, capacity-building sessions, and financial literacy programmes, the SHGs will empower members to become economically independent and actively participate in the social and economic development of their communities.
