Living the Gospel in Daily Life: BEC Seminar at Yesu Daya Sagar Church, Sutrana, Patra
A Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) Seminar was held at Yeshu Daya Sagar Church, Sutrana, Patra, on 30 Aug, 2026, with the aim of deepening Christian fellowship, faith, prayer, and active participation in the life and mission of the Church. Fifty-five parishioners took part with enthusiasm and openness.
The seminar helped participants understand the importance of forming the basic ecclesial communities in which members gather to pray, reflect on the Word of God, share their faith, support one another, and work collaboratively for the good of the parish and society. Participants were encouraged to view the BECs not as just another parish activity, but as a practical way of living the Gospel in daily life.
Reflections centered on Jesus' call to remain united as one family in faith and love. Emphasis was placed on regular prayer, attentive listening to the Word of God, mutual care, forgiveness, fellowship, and outreach to those in need.
Participants were also encouraged to take personal responsibility for building a stronger and more vibrant Christian community.
As a result of the seminar, two BECs units were formed — a meaningful step toward strengthening community life and broadening participation among the faithful. Members were encouraged to meet regularly, pray together, reflect on the Sunday Gospel, identify the needs of their communities, and undertake charitable and pastoral initiatives.
The seminar was a joyful and grace-filled experience for all involved, reaffirming that the Church grows stronger when each person contributes their gifts and talents. The turnout of 55 participants reflected a shared willingness to journey together in faith and bear witness to Christ's love.
We thank God Almighty for the blessings received during the seminar and for the successful formation of the two BECs units. May these communities become places of prayer, unity, love, service, and evangelization, carrying Christ's message to every family.

May the Holy Spirit guide and strengthen the newly formed BECs units, that they may grow as living communities of faith and instruments of God's love and peace within the parish.
