Inter-Religious discussion held on media role and communal harmony

Theme: Media: A Bridge for Interfaith Harmony

A Sarv Dharma Sammelan (Interfaith Gathering) was held on 27 June 2026 at the Sector 40-C Mosque, Chandigarh, under the leadership of Fr. Premanand. The programme brought together around 125 participants from different religious communities, fostering the spirit of mutual respect, dialogue, and harmony.

Representatives and devotees from the Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, and Christian faiths participated enthusiastically. Religious leaders from each tradition shared inspiring reflections on the importance of peace, unity, and collaboration in building a harmonious society.

The central theme of the gathering was "Media", highlighting its vital role in promoting truth, strengthening interfaith understanding, and encouraging responsible communication.

The keynote panel featured Dr. Prof. Tarminder Kaur of SD College, Chandigarh, and Most Rev. Dr. Sahaya Thatheus Thomas, Bishop of Simla-Chandigarh Diocese who shared valuable insights on the responsibility of the media in fostering dialogue, promoting ethical communication, and strengthening harmony among people of diverse faiths.

In his address, Bishop Sahaya Thatheus Thomas emphasized that the media should be a powerful instrument for truth, peace, and unity, encouraging people of all faiths to work together for the common good and to build a society founded on mutual respect and human dignity.

The gathering concluded with a renewed commitment to promote fraternity, peaceful coexistence, and collaborative efforts among all religious communities.

The programme served as a meaningful witness to the shared values of love, compassion, and unity, reaffirming that interfaith dialogue remains an essential path toward building a more inclusive and peaceful society.
