Commission for Women

To uphold the dignity, gifts and mission of women in the Church and society, and to ensure their full participation in pastoral life.

MISSION TRAJECTORY

The Commission for Women promotes the dignity, vocation, and active participation of women in the Church and society, rooted in Gospel values and the vision of a Synodal Church - Communion, Participation, and Mission.

It seeks to build a vibrant women's movement at all levels, empowering women for leadership, co-responsibility, and social transformation, while promoting gender equality and a more inclusive, just, and gender-sensitive community.

THE 7-YEAR ROADMAP

Programmatic Strategies

Short Term

2026-2028Foundation
  • Establish Parish Women Cells; enroll at least 30% women.
  • Introduce small annual contribution system for sustainability.
  • Register women and initiate basic spiritual programs (Bible sharing, faith groups).
  • Train initial batch of women leaders in leadership & Church roles.
  • Begin participation in local governance forums.
  • Start linkage of Parish Cells with government & health services.

Medium Term

2029-2031Consolidation
  • Expand Women Cells to 100% parishes; strengthen functionality.
  • Ensure 50% participation in regular spiritual and formation activities.
  • Scale leadership training (rights, safeguarding, media) across deaneries.
  • Establish DICC & POSH and Strengthen parish councils/committees with women representation.
  • Increase participation in governance and social platforms.
  • Deeper understanding of Safeguarding of children and POSH.

Long Term

2032-2033Expansion
  • Achieve fully self-sustaining and active Women Cells in all parishes.
  • Ensure strong women leadership with at least 50% representation in decision-making bodies.
  • Institutionalize continuous formation (spiritual, leadership, socio-political).
  • Strengthen livelihood and skill-development programs benefiting large numbers.
  • Ensure full integration with government schemes, health, and social services.
  • Build a culture of empowered, participatory women contributing to Church and society.

Our Pastoral Priorities

A structured, self-sustaining and participatory women's movement is built up ensuring active involvement of Catholic women in parish life, leadership, and social mission.

OBJECTIVE 01

Establishing Strong and Self-Sustaining Parish Women Cells.

KPIs

  • By December 2026, 30% Catholic women (2,000) enrolled in Parish Women Cells.
  • By August 2027, 100% Women Cells implement ₹100 annual contribution system.
  • By December 2028, 70% parishes have active and financially functional Women Cells.

OBJECTIVE 02

Enhancing Spiritual Growth and Participation of Women.

KPIs

  • By December 2027, 100% registered women participate in at least 1 spiritual program/year.
  • By December 2028, 50% women participate in regular Bible sharing/faith groups.
  • By July 2028, each deanery conducts minimum 2 spiritual programs per year.

OBJECTIVE 03

Developing Women Leadership & Gender Equality Systems.

KPIs

  • By November 2026, 100 women (20/deanery) leaders trained in leadership & Church roles.
  • By October 2027, 200 women (40/deanery) trained in leadership, rights, safeguarding and media.
  • By March 2027, Diocesan Internal Complaint Committee (DICC) and Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) established and functional.
  • By December 2028, 50% women representation ensured in parish councils/committees.

OBJECTIVE 04

Enhancing women's health, wellness, and political empowerment.

KPIs

  • From September 2026, 50% of members participate in local governance forums.
  • From February 2028, every Parish Cell is connected with local government and health services.

OBJECTIVE 05

Promoting Women Empowerment, Health and Networking.

KPIs

  • By September 2026, 50% women participate in awareness programs (health, governance, rights).
  • By 28 February 2028, 100% Women Cells linked with government schemes & health services.
  • By 2028, minimum 4 joint programs/year conducted with other commissions.
  • By 31 December 2028, 500 women benefit from livelihood/skill programs.
