Commission for Bible
To enthrone the Word of God at the heart of every home and parish, and to nourish the faithful through prayerful encounter with Sacred Scripture.

MISSION TRAJECTORY
The Word of God illuminates the life of a faithful and leads to a Christ-centred life. Therefore, the Bible Commission commits itself to encourage the faithful to love and honour the Lord in the Sacred Scripture. For this, the commission encourages regular Bible reading and sharing Christian culture in the family and among the communities. The family and community illuminated by the Word of God, animates the neighbourhood to a value based life of truth and service.
THE 7-YEAR ROADMAP
Programmatic Strategies
Short Term
2026-2028
Foundation- Form and train Diocesan Bible Animation Team.
- Conduct seminars & online sessions for priests and religious on Sacred Scripture.
- Ensure families receive the New Testament in vernacular (Hindi/Punjabi).
- Organize Bible Camps for children in parishes and deaneries.
- Initiate neighbourhood Bible sharing groups (BECs) in at least 30% areas.
Medium Term
2029-2031
Strengthening- Expand ongoing formation programs for clergy and religious with periodic follow-ups.
- Promote daily family Bible reading practices across parishes.
- Organize large-scale youth Bible seminars and formation programs.
- Strengthen and increase active BECs and parish-level sharing groups.
- Develop structured Bible study modules for children, youth, and families.
Long Term
2032-2033+
Sustainability- Ensure Bible reading culture is fully integrated in family life (majority participation).
- Achieve at least 60% families reading/listening to the full Bible.
- Establish 80% active neighbourhood BECs across the diocese.
- Make parishes and chapels centers for Bible-based faith sharing and life reflection.
- Sustain a well-trained, self-propagating Bible network in the diocese.
